A Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee favorite restaurant for more than four decades has a beautiful, new home.
The Parthenon Restaurant moved into a striking new facility right across South Church Street from the long-standing location over the weekend when dining was by reservation only due to the move.
The almost 6,000-square-foot restaurant is open for regular hours Monday at 1935 S. Church Street.
Kathy Darsinos, owner of The Parthenon, said eight months of planning went into the new facility to present a “modern, contemporary feel to it.”
Her expectations have been exceed already as she noted customers on seeing the new restaurants interior are apt to exclaim, “Oh my god, this is beautiful,” and compare it to something they would expect in New York City.
“I never expected that as an owner,” Darsinos said. “I liked it because I designed it. We just wanted to make it perfect. I think we have come close.”
The restaurant can now seat up to 200 with rooms that can be configured to seat up to 120, 70, 35 or 10-12.
In the summer the Parthenon will have two outdoors patios for dining.
The new dining facility also has a new menu and a full bar, featuring many new wines.
“Pretty much, we are a grill and we offer five sauces for anything coming off the grill,” Darsinos said.
In addition to more grill selections and sauces, she said the restaurant’s popular pastas have been expanded along with fresh new appetizers such as a daily gourmet pizza offering and salmon marsipone.
Parthenon has also added affordable options to its lunch menu.
The restaurant was originally slated to move to the new location in the fall, but like many area construction projects last year’s unusually wet weather delayed work. |
