Fees may be on the rise for several Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation offerings.

The Murfreesboro City Council will consider increasing fees for the youth football league, Patterson Community Center’s outdoor adult soccer league and the rental fee for the SportsCom outdoor water park, as well as approving a fee for a new theatre camp.

MPRD’s athletic staff has proposed increasing the youth football program fee from $60 to $70 to cover the cost of jerseys, trophies and end-of-season playoffs, as well as the training of officials and coaches.

“Staff explained to the (Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Committee) at its April 7 meeting that the MPRD Youth League Football programs registration fee will still be less than the fee of the other two youth football leagues in town,” MPRD Director Lanny Goodwin said in a letter to the city council.

If approved the fee for the Patterson Park 8v8 Adult Outdoor Soccer League will increase from $60 per team to $100 per team to fully cover the cost of the league.

Goodwin explained the league has grown more competitive and additional referees are needed to officiate the games.

“The $100 team fee would be used for that cost and other cots associated with running the league,” Goodwin said.

MPRD also proposed rental fees for the SportsCom outdoor water park and its new pavilions.

The proposed fee for a minimum two-hour rental of the entire facility would be $300 to cover the cost of staff, utilities and running the pool.

MPRD also suggested a separate fee for those who wish to rent the facility’s two pavilions. Three times slots, during regular hours, will be offered for $30 at a three-hour minimum. Additional time will cost $10 an hour.

The department’s cultural arts staff has suggested a $150 fee or $110 fee for a youth Theatre camp scheduled for July 5-16 at Patterson Park Community Center.

The camp’s registration fee for Sunshine Players members will be set at $110, with non-members paying $150. The membership fee for the Sunshine Players will remain at $30.

If you USE it you should pay for the facilities.
Why should those that feel the Gub-Mint is there for their fun and pleasure
Not PAY for that privilege?
I believe that there should be meters, like at a car wash, etc.
located at the tennis courts charging a few bucks an hour for the folks who play tennis all night.

…Just my opinion…

The increase in fees will benefit the budget for parks and recs.

I agree, if you use it then you must pay.

Very odd, fees increase in time for a new restructured water park.
