The 26th annual National Night Out (NNO) program will culminate Tuesday, Aug. 4, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) announced.
Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department will hold an evening of community activities from 5-9 p.m. at the following three locations:
SportsCom: Official kick-off site with dignitaries at 6 p.m. Activities at Sports*Com include inflatables, live band music, free swimming and hot dogs, and helicopter landing.

Patterson Park: More than 25 agencies will be represented from local churches, community organizations, state and local agencies.
Live gospel music and free food will be provided. Activities include face painting, inflatables for kids, bingo, cakewalks and free giveaways. In addition, the Murfreesboro Fire Department will cool-down the kids with sprayers.

Barfield Crescent Park: Activities at Barfield Crescent Park will include face painting, T-shirt walks, dizzy bat races, obstacle courses, tug of war, music and carnival games. In addition, a karate exhibition will be presented and later in the evening, a special Movies Under the Stars.

National Night Out, a yearlong community-building campaign, is designed to: Heighten crime prevention awareness; Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. |
