Parks and Rec to offer Yoga classes

SportsCom and Patterson Community Center will begin featuring yoga classes in April by local practitioner, J. Paul Vaughn, in the Iyangar tradition.

Each class will consist of instruction and exercises, including yoga poses (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranyama).

The syllabus is designed to accommodate a wide range of student abilities, from beginner to the experienced practitioner. Anyone interested in practicing yoga is welcome.

Beginning April 4, classes will be held at Sports*Com on Saturdays, 9:30-10:30 a.m. and at Patterson Community Center on Sundays, 3-4:30 p.m.

The fee is premium pass admission (Adults - $4 and Youth & Seniors - $3) per class.

J. Paul Vaughn has been practicing yoga in the Iyangar tradition since 1997.

He completed the 500-hour, 13-month, teacher training program of Dragonfly Yoga Studies and is registered with the Yoga Alliance earning the professional designation RYT.

Paul has taught at the Yoga on the Square in Murfreesboro for the past three years and practices under the direction of Jan Campbell, The Yoga Center in Nashville, TN.

SportsCom is located at 2310 Memorial Blvd., in Murfreesboro and Patterson Community Center is located at 521 Mercury Blvd., in Murfreesboro.
