| Two suspects accused of breaking into a house with a 15-year-old girl inside were apprehended within minutes Tuesday by an alert sheriff’s sergeant.
The girl locked herself inside her bedroom and notified her father, Joe Williams, when she heard burglars breaking into her Del Thomas Road home near Smyrna, Deputy Ja-Cal Johnson reported. The father called 911 and asked a neighbor to stay with his sick daughter. The neighbor gave a description of the burglars’ SUV.
Detective Troy Hooker said Sgt. Monica Fonseca spotted the suspects’ vehicle moments later and stopped the Chevrolet Blazer.
Property stolen from the Williams’ home was recovered inside the SUV, Hooker said.
Suspect Charles K. Glover, 37, of Nashville, was charged with aggravated burglary, theft over $1,000, unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Suspect Karen F. Bates, 38, of Hermitage, was charged with theft over $1,000.
Hearings for the suspects were set Jan. 20 in General Sessions Court.
Hooker urged people who are victims of a burglary while they are inside the house to call 911 immediately so sheriff’s deputies can respond and help apprehended the suspects. |
