Charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication in Murfreesboro against Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones were continued until January to determine the outcome of coercion charges in Las Vegas.

Murfreesboro Police Officer Matt Baldwin charged Jones, 23, of Franklin Aug. 25 at Sweetwater’s tavern on West Main Street. Jones agreed in January to maintain good and lawful behavior, pay court costs and complete an anger management class within six months. If he complied, the charges would be retired without a conviction.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Parkerson filed a petition June 22 to end the agreement after Jones was charged with felony coercion after a shooting Feb. 19 at a Las Vegas night club. The complaint alleged Jones threatened to kill employees and bit the ankle of a security employee restraining him.

Outside the courtroom, Jones denied biting the guard, saying the DNA came back negative.

Jones was suspended the entire 2007 season by the National Football League.

General Sessions Court Judge David Loughry continued the case until Jan. 3 to await a resolution of the coercion charges.

In the brief hearing, Parkerson said Jones did not abide by the requirement to maintain “good and lawful conduct” by getting arrested within six months. He asked the judge to reinstated the charges.

Jones’ attorney Worrick Robinson IV of Nashville said Jones paid court costs, stayed away from Rutherford County and completed the NFL counseling. The charges in Las Vegas were based on hearsay. He has not been convicted.

“Mr. Jones has had good and lawful conduct in this county,” Robinson said. “He has had good and lawful conduct in this state.”

Loughry said the state offered allegations but not proof of unlawful behavior.

“Mr. Jones has not been proven guilty of anything to this point,” Loughry said.

The judge continued the case until January to allow time for the coercion charges to be heard in Las Vegas.

After the hearing, Robinson said he believes Jones has maintained good and lawful conduct. He doesn’t know if the coercion charges will be resolved by January since Jones’ first appearance is set July 23 when a preliminary hearing date will be set.

“He totally denies those charges (in Murfreesboro),” Robinson said. “We believe he has lived up to the agreement.”

Reporters asked Jones what message he had for fans.

"Just stick with me," Jones said. "I'm sorry for taking ya'll through this. It's going to be a brighter day."

As reporters walked with Jones, a driver yelled at him and tossed out dollar bills in an apparent reference to allegations Jones tossed bills inside the Las Vegas night club.

While waiting for his case, Patrice Watts, 11, of Nashville traveled to Murfreesboro just to get Jones’ autograph.

“My heart was pounding,” Patrice said as she patted her chest. “He was very nice.”

She proudly displayed a yellow sticky note with Jones’ autograph that she plans to enlarge and frame.

I'm really tired of hearing about this little punk. I wish him and Paris Hilton would just go away.

How does this guy get away with so much? Have he ever served any jail time? Would the average Joe get this many chances? Just asking!!!

RayRay,

You already know the answers to these questions.

Let's see if any of the young lawyers in the 'boro attempt to bring up this particular ruling again in General Sessions court. Seems like alot of other "Joes" aren't getting the same shake on the 'ol "he hasn't been proven guilty of anything at this point" deal.
