One person died and numerous crashes were reported from a winter snowstorm Saturday in Rutherford County, said Sheriff Robert Arnold.
Because of the poor driving conditions, Arnold asked motorists to stay home unless it is absolutely necessary to drive.
Sgt. Mike George asked off-duty deputies to come to work to handle the increasing number of crashes.
Communications Lt. Candi McCluskey said the worst conditions seemed to be on Interstate 24 and Jefferson Pike. The traffic fatality occurred on Interstate 24 near the South Church Street exit.
