MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Crews with the Murfreesboro Transportation Department are still working to repair a busted storm drain and sinkhole that opened up Monday on Old Fort Parkway in the Cason Lane area.
The sinkhole caused traffic to back up throughout much of the afternoon and early evening near the Cason Lane and Old Fort Parkway intersection, which is in the vicinity of several businesses near Interstate 24, as city crews started working to fix the damaged road.
After spending several hours on the project, city officials announced crews would return Tuesday, Dec. 10, to continue working on repairing the busy road.
That means the eastbound lane of Old Fort Parkway, just west of Cason Lane, will be reduced to one lane starting at 8:30 a.m.
Proper traffic controls will be in place, but officials are urging residents to proceed through the area with caution or take another route if it all possible.
