Octavia Rogers Woodward, age 94, of Murfreesboro, passed away on January 31, 2012. She was born on November 24, 2012 in Rutherford County but currently resided in Canton, NC. Her love of geneology led her to be an active member of the DAR, the UDC and the local historical society. Octavia served as Regent of the Capt. William Lytle Chapter in Murfreesboro.

Octavia was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Woodward, Jr.; parents, Edgar L. Rogers, who was a merchant on the square and Irene Myers Rogers, whom Reeves-Rogers school was name for; brother, E.L. “Sonny” Rogers, Jr. who was a World War II hero; and sister, Frances R. Alderman. She was survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Judy Woodward of Hendersonville; daughter, Irene Woodward Goodgame of North Carolina; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
