Oakland High School in Murfreesboro will officially name its football stadium after former coach Ray Hughes on Friday, Sept. 6, before the game.
Hughes was a teacher and coach at the school for many years before his retirement. He was Oakland's first football coach.
"Mr. Hughes served as an avid supporter of student athletics during his entire career and has provided a role model for countless student athletics and remains a long time supporter of Oakland High School," Principal Bill Spurlock said. "Because of Mr. Hughes’ outstanding career and dedication to Oakland High School athletics, we believe that the Oakland High School stadium should bear his name."
