Oakland dance team takes home top honors

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Oakland High School dance team won several awards Saturday at the Ameri-Dance Music City Championship in Nashville. 

The team won first place in both the varsity pom and hip-hop divisions and won high-point champion trophies for both those categories as well.

Dance team members also earned a bid to the Ameri-Dance National Competition and were named grand champions for the entire competition.

Dance team members are: Lauren Bales, Kayla Boyles, Kamron Buehler, who serves as co-captain, Michaela Carson, Anna Fairchild, Zoe Gillespie, Ryleigh Harbin, Emily Heim, Molly Leonard, who serves as co-captain, Kaila Marcum-French, Briana Meek, Hannah Ranchino and Annea Richardson.

Emily Leonard serves as the choreographer of the dance team, which is led by coach Pam Bohall.
