North Thompson Lane may be getting a new look in the coming months.

Murfreesboro is considering resurfacing 2.1 miles of the road from Northwest Broad Street to Old Fort Parkway. The project will also add 4-foot bike lanes to each side of the road and connect existing sidewalks with new.

The project will cost the city $39,210 to be reimbursed by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Minutes
• Consider recommendations of the Planning Commission to schedule public hearings for and an annexation study for an area located north of Wilkinson Pike and west of West Park Drive and a zoning request for approximately .25 acres to be rezoned from multi-family residential to commercial district along Greenland Drive and Old Lascassas Road.

• Consider recommendations of the Assistant Water & Sewer Director with regards to acquisition of easements for the Wilkinson Pike Sanitary Sewer, Southwest Regional Force Main and Lower Lytle Creek Sanitary Sewer projects.

• Consider recommendations of City Engineer for property acquisition for Haynes Drive improvements; appraisals and property acquisition for Joe B. Jackson Parkway extension; and construction testing service for the new Chamber of Commerce/Visitors Center on Medical Center Parkway.

2.1 miles for $39,210 ? those numbers don't seem to add up right. It cost more than that for a parking lot I had done.

That $39,210.00 is probably the share from the Recovery Act. The project will cost much much more for which the city will have to pay.

But, on the bright side, when the project is completed the president and his weasel treasury guru can come to town to tell us what all they have done to us - pardon, for us.
