The Nissan Foundation recently presented the Business Education Partnership Foundation (BEP) at the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce with a check of $50,000 for the BEP/Nissan Mini-Grant program, a grant process established by Nissan and the BEP to provide funds for unique education projects in Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City schools’ classrooms.
BEP/Nissan Mini-Grants were established in 2001 and are awarded to teachers each Spring and Fall. Applications are available in January and August. Each semester over 200 applications are judged by a blind panel, with financial prizes of up to $500 awarded to the most innovative proposals.
“The Nissan Foundation’s commitment to education has provided hundreds of teachers with finances and resources they would otherwise not have,” said Lee Rennick, BEP executive director. “Because of their investment, teachers can empower their students to accomplish new and innovative projects at school, which translates into preparing them to be dynamic leaders in the business world. We thank Nissan for their unfailing generosity and support of education.”
