Recycle Rutherford announces Christmas tree recycling

Comment   Email   Print
End your Christmas Season by being green. Recycle your Christmas tree by leaving it at one of several locations around the county so that it can be chipped and turned into mulch. Make sure to remove all ornaments, tinsel, garland, and lights from the tree and drop it off at one of the marked locations for chipping.

You can drop off your tree between Dec. 26 and Jan. 14 in Smyrna at Lee Victory Recreation Park off Sam Ridley Parkway. Look for the designated area by the football field. In La Vergne, you can drop off your tree at the parking lot next to the Public Works Building, 148 International Blvd. (off Waldron Road) between Dec. 26 and Jan. 21.

In Murfreesboro, you can drop off your tree at the designated area adjacent to the Farmer's Market shed at Cannonsburg from Dec. 26 to Jan. 7. This event is sponsored by the cities of Murfreesboro, LaVergne, and Smyrna.

Recycle Rutherford is a volunteer organization dedicated to increasing recycling in Rutherford County. To volunteer or request more information, please call 687-3497 or visit www.recyclerutherford.org.

Why doesn’t the City or County support Recycling? If we had curbside recycling program in the County and City we could cut down on the waste at the landfill.
