An 18-year-old intoxicated man stood atop a trench digger and yelled at traffic on Bradyville Pike. He told Officer Chris Gann he was “greeting the traffic as they passed to ensure they were having a good day.” He was wearing a bib as required by his fraternity while consuming alcohol. Gann arrested him for public intoxication.

A customer filled her cart with groceries and walked out without paying at Kroger on South Church Street. An employee followed the customer who jumped in her car and left with more than $200 worth of groceries. The employee obtained the license plate number.

A retired Murfreesboro woman reported a man identifying himself from Publisher’s Clearing House notified her she received a $200,000 prize but she needed to pay $857.75 in taxes before receiving the money. She sent a $857.75 money gram to a Smyrna address. Once the money gram was received, the callers asked for $1,200 more for interstate taxes. Instead of sending money a second time, she called police.

Thieves stole 16 garments from a woman doing laundry at Spring Valley Apartments. They took two pairs of pants, six pairs of panties and eight shirts. They left two pairs of pants. Loss was set at $350.

A man swimming in Stones River fished out a Gateway computer.
