Middle Tennessee Christian School will host its 47th Annual Steak Dinner on Nov. 1. Jimmy Gentry, of Franklin, will be the speaker at the Steak Dinner this year. He is a World War II veteran, and a published author. An American Life is his account of how he survived during World War II, and some of the changes he has encountered in Tennessee and in America since that time.
Middle Tennessee Christian School is a private school serving students from Rutherford and surrounding counties in pre-school through twelfth grades. Chartered in 1960, MTCS accepted its first students in the fall of 1962 for kindergarten through third grade. The school added other grades through the years and graduated its first senior class in 1979. The current enrollment at the school includes 755 students. MTCS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association.
Originally suggested by the late Frank Robinson, the founder of Frank’s CB and a charter member of the MTCS Board of Directors, the Annual Steak Dinner is the oldest continuing fund-raising event for Middle Tennessee Christian School. The first dinner was sponsored by the original Board of Directors to raise funds to start the school. The Board of Directors host the dinner annually to raise funds for the operation and expansion of the school.
Sponsors for this year’s dinner are: AdamsPlace, Bud’s Tire, Caris Healthcare, Cone Solvents, Farmer Brothers Insurance, FirstBank, McBride Oil, National HealthCare, Reeves-Sain, Mr. and Mrs. Buford C. Throneberry, and TrustCore Financial, Inc.
Current members of the MTCS Board of Directors include Boyd Barker, Thomas E. Batey, H A Beasley, Richie Bolin, Gerald Coggin, Dr. David Harris, Craig Lynch, Joe Mayes, Michael Middleton, Robert Mullins, Bill Pearcy, Dick Pruett, Bob Schaffer, Charles Swift, Bruce Todd, and Dr. Joe Trammell.
Tickets for the dinner may be purchased from any Board member, friends of the school, or by contacting the school office at 893-0601.
