Blackman will retire the jersey of former baseball, basketball and golf standout David Price Friday during halftime of the Blackman-Siegel football game that starts at 7:30 p.m. at Blackman.
Tampa Bay selected Price with the No. 1 pick in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. Price, who was the SEC Male Athlete of the Year at Vanderbilt, inked a six-year, $11.25 million deal with the Devil Rays and got a $5.6 million signing bonus.
Price was Collegiate Baseball’s Co-National Player of the Year and the SEC Pitcher of the Year. He also won the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy. He went 11-1 as a junior with a 2.63 ERA.
