Middle Half race director Melinda Tate was tickled with the event that enjoyed perfect weather, few minor glitches, excellent competition with the new course records and a great turnout in all respects.
“We’re just really proud of all the runners and we are real excited for the people who have taken up running. We hope to see them next year,” she said.
Tate was especially proud of the community volunteer effort that saw 350-400 show up to help with the huge event.
“We had some great volunteers out there this year with some different groups and they took over the course pretty much,” she said.
The Kids Fun Run attracted more than 100 competitors.
Looking ahead, Tate said race directors would consider increasing the limit of 2,000 registered runners.
“Next year we will probably increase limit a little bit. We don’t want to be the biggest race; we want to be the best race. But we want to fit as many runners as we can and maintain our quality,” Tate said..

My 1st year to volunteer - will do it again. Many in the community need to come out and encourage these folks accomplishing a personal goal of finishing 13.1 Miles. Doubt I could do it walking.
