Name: Brent Scott

Title: President

Company Name: Premier Home Inspection, LLC

Website: www.premierinspectiontn.com

Address: 402 Kingwood Drive

Time in current position: almost three years

What does your company produce: We inspect homes for people wanting to buy or sell their home. We also offer testing for radon, mold and lead-based paint and septic letters.

What is your basic business philosophy? "Be advised, not surprised."

Gives us a sales pitch in 25 words or less: A professional inspection will significantly reduce your risk and make the buying process less stressful. You'll receive a comprehensive report the same day that is easy to understand. Armed with the information our report will provide, you can make your decision with confidence.

What is your proudest business achievement? It is not a single event; rather many events. Every time I do an inspection that saves people money and headaches down the road I feel rewarded. I like knowing that I have helped someone.

What led you to Murfreesboro? I came to Murfreesboro to attend MTSU.

What is your educational background? MTSU bachelor's degree in recreational therapy, certification from the American Home Inspection Institute, as well as sitting for the state home inspection license exam.

Where are you originally from? Born in Johnson City but raised in Franklin.

What do you do for fun? Hunting, camping, kayaking and fishing.

Tell us about your family. My wife, Ginger, is a teacher with Rutherford County Schools. We have two children, Ella, 2 ½, and Nathan, 6 months.

Who is your mentor? My brother-in-law, Randy McCoy, president and owner of McCoy Management.

What is the most important thing going on now at your company? January is National Radon Awareness Month. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, second only to smoking. According to the EPA Web site, approximately 16 percent of homes in Tennessee have levels of radon exceeding the 4 PCI limit. Our company offers radon testing and for the month of January we are offering $25 off any radon test.
