Noon Exchange Club’s Healing Field
On Memorial Day weekend 1,500 U.S. flags and accessories will fly in the “Healing Field – Flags of Remembrance.”
The flags were placed Thursday in preparation of the weekend event, which will be held in the field next to Belk’s at The Avenue on Medical Center Parkway.
The field will be open each day from 10:30 to dusk. There is no admission charge so a great family outing to teach children the real meaning of Memorial Day.
There will be a closing ceremony about 6:30 p.m. Memorial Day with the playing of “Amazing Grace” on a bagpipe, the reading of the names of Tennesseans who have lost their life in the war on terrorism, and the playing of “Taps” will close the field.
Imagine a sea of red, white and blue, hundreds of American flags standing 8-foot tall in perfect rows and columns across a field of green.

Stones River National Battlefield
The battlefield will hold a series of Memorial Day events this weekend to honor fallen soldiers, along with recurring lining history programs
The annual Memorial Day program will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the rostrum in the Stones River National Cemetery.
The program will include patriotic music, a wreath laying ceremony, a three-volley salute by Civil War reenactors, and the reading of the names of veterans who have passed away since last Memorial Day. Refreshments will be served after the program near the maintenance area.
The maintenance parking area will be reserved for visitors with disabilities. All other parking will be in the visitor center parking lot.
On Saturday at 10 a.m., local scouting groups are invited to assist in placing flags on more than 7,000 headstones in the Stones River National Cemetery.
Parking will be in the visitor center parking lot, and participants are encouraged to arrive by 9:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served after the project is over.

Rangers will also present A Soldiers Story on Friday and Monday, Living Under the Guns and A Ride Through History: A Caravan Tour of Stones River National Battlefield on Saturday.

Lamplighter’s Theatre
Lamplighter’s Theatre presents God’s Favorite Friday and Saturday evenings with a Sunday matinee.
The play was written in 1974 by Neil Simon and is loosely based on the Biblical book of Job.
Lamplighter’s takes the stage at the Smyrna Assembly of God Church, 14119 Old Nashville Highway, just off Sam Ridley Parkway.

The Tennessee Renaissance Festival
Travel back to 16th Century England in Triune at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival.
The village of Covington Glen comes alive again this year with the bustle of a Renaissance Marketplace. More than 60 skilled Artisians from all over the country display their wares from silks to swords, gems to jewels.
Flavors, aromas and tastes of specialty foods and drinks greet the festival-goer. Hear the sounds of Renaissance musicians and merrymakers as they echo through the trees.
This season the Tennessee Renaissance Festival is pleased to present Shakespeare's classic romantic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet.
The show will be presented by our in-house cast every festival day at 11:30 a.m. on the Highland Manor Stage.
The festival is easily accessible from I-24, I-65, or I-840. Take Highway 96 to Triune, follow the "Renaissance Festival" signs.

The festival is open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and runs every weekend in May, including Memorial Day.
MTSU Farmer’s Market
MTSU’s student-run farmer’s market will open Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Horticulture Center off Blue Raider Drive on the MTSU campus and will remain open each Friday into the fall.
Now in its second year, it will offer fresh produce as well as perennials, annuals and houseplants for sale to the community.
The market will begin with cool-season crops like cabbages, broccoli, onions, peas and lettuces; other crops will be added once they are ready for sale. Later crops include peppers, squash, pumpkins, sweet corn, melons and seven varieties of tomatoes.
Proceeds from the market are used to purchase supplies for MTSU’s on-campus greenhouse and to cover expenses of agriculture students’ travel to professional conferences and competitions.
MTSU students enrolled in a vegetable gardening class and members of the Plant and Soil Science Club grow all plants and produce from seed to maturation.
Heritage Dance Project
The Arts Center of Cannon County features Heritage Dance Project at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
This up and coming contemporary dance company is comprised of a lively group of dancers and choreographers who strive to provide audiences with a unique and fun experience through creating an atmosphere that makes a strong connection both physically and emotionally with the audience.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, groups or students. The Arts Center is located on John Bragg Highway in Woodbury.

Memorial Day at the Vine
The Vine presents a USO Dance with Music City Swing Band at 8 p.m. Saturday in honor of Memorial Day.

The Red and Black All School Reunion invites the public to put on their old prom dresses and enjoy the Boomers in the gym at 9 p.m. Friday in the Patterson Community Center.
Senior Prom: An Evening to Treasure is co-hosted by The Red Hat Ladies of Murfreesboro, Bradley Academy Historical and Cultural Center, and The ‘Boro Blues Fest Planning Committee.
