The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Mid-South Healthcare Network (VISN 9) and the University of Tennessee Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), along with the Tennessee Small Business Development Center are sponsoring “Doing Business with the Veterans Administration and other Federal Agencies.”

The seminar is scheduled for Jan. 22 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce at 615 Memorial Blvd.

The primary speaker is Ms. Sonja Robinson, Small Business Analyst, VISN 9 Acquisition Service Center, US Department of Veterans Affairs. Representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center will also be available as presenters.

The “Doing Business with the Veterans Administration and other Federal Agencies” seminar will cover business opportunities with the Veterans Administration, review the VA’s procurement process, and explain the preliminary steps involved in doing business with the Federal Government.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has contracting activities for VA Medical Centers (VAMC), regional contracting centers, including the VA Mid-South Healthcare Network (VISN 9) located in Murfreesboro and Nashville, the VA National Acquisition Center in Hines, IL, the Austin Automation Center, and the Denver Distribution Center in Denver, Co.

The VA operates a nationwide system of hospitals, clinics, regional offices, data processing centers, and National Cemeteries that require a broad spectrum of goods and services. The VA purchase these goods and services on a national, regional, and local level. Each facility purchases a majority of its requirements for direct delivery through its local Acquisition office.
