a Vergne’s newest grocery store, Kroger, will open later this summer in the former Southern Family Market space at 5147 Murfreesboro Road, according to Vice Mayor and Economic Development Chairman Jerry Gann. The 40,000 square-foot store will feature a floral shop, pharmacy, deli, bakery, Nature’s Market, fresh fish and seafood market and more.
The store is expected to bring 100 jobs to the City of La Vergne. It is the first Kroger opened in La Vergne and the ninth in Rutherford County.
“We’ve been working with Kroger for more than a year now to have them locate in La Vergne,” Gann said. “This is the result of a good working relationship between Kroger, our Economic Development Committee and the City of La Vergne staff. It’s out of local contacts and groups such as the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) that these type of retail establishments come about.”
Kroger is excited about coming to La Vergne, according to Melissa Eads, community relations manager for Kroger. “We are pleased to be able to serve our La Vergne customers with a more convenient location and look forward to welcoming new customers who will now have Kroger as a grocery option in their community,” she said. |
