The New Year will start cold with highs in the mid-30s and snow flurries predicted across the midstate.

Rain is moving across Middle Tennessee and will continue for the next few days until New Year’s Day when a sweep of Artic air may turn the rain to snow.

But until then the midstate has a 100 percent chance of rain tonight with lows in the upper 30s

Areas that will have the best chance of receiving rainfall will be along and west of Interstate 65 tonight.

New Year’s Eve will be cloudy with a slight chance of light rain, highs in the mid-40s and lows in the mid-20s.

New Years Day won’t be much better with a partly sunny sky and colder air. Scattered flurries are predicted in the morning as highs will only reach into the mid-30s and a low around 20 degrees.
