Director of Schools-elect Don Odom has named Ginger Tucker the principal of Stewarts Creek Elementary School.

Tucker currently serves as the assistant principal of the school. She will be replacing current Principal Richard Zago, who was recently named the assistant superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

“I am pleased that Ginger Tucker has accepted the principal’s assignment at Stewarts Creek Elementary School,” Odom said. “Mrs. Tucker is a member of the community having established a strong positive relationship with parents and the school staff. She comes with experiences as an effective academic leader, including her involvement with a nationally recognized Title I school of the year.”

A veteran educator of 35 years, Tucker spent 26 combined as a classroom teacher at Smyrna Primary School, Stewartsboro Elementary School and Rock Springs Elementary School. She served for three years as the Title I schoolwide coordinator at Smyrna Elementary School before moving into to Stewarts Creek as an assistant principal, a role she held for six years.

“It is such an honor to be selected as the next principal of Stewarts Creek Elementary, where ‘The Tradition of Excellence Begins,’” Tucker said. “I am proud to have been mentored by Richard Zago and am excited and grateful to have the opportunity to continue the ambitious academic program for the students, staff and community.”

Odom will begin as director of Rutherford County Schools in July following the retirement of current Director Harry Gill Jr.
