The Buchanan area may be getting a new fire station in the future.
On Thursday night, Murfreesboro City Council will consider a proposal from Parkway Partners to accept land, located at Ridge Drive and Joe B. Jackson Parkway, for the construction of a new fire station.
“Chief Cumbey Gains … believes the site will position his department to meet the future needs of the community when conditions in the community indicate the need to construct a fire station and that banking the site for future use would be good planning for the city,” Planning Director Joseph Aydelott wrote in a memo to council.
Parkway Partners will donate the land to the city, as long as the city will agree to run sanitary sewer service to the site.
Aydelott estimates the cost to be around $57,100, plus a $3,676 design fee.
Public Hearings
• To modify the conditions of the Planned Unit Development (PUD) District for Marymont Springs to chance the lot size and housing type, relocating the swimming pool and amenity area and expanding the common area. View Map
• To rezone the territory indicated on Agripark Drive from Residential Multi-Family Sixteen (RM-16) District and Single-Family Residential Fifteen (RS-15) District to Highway Commercial (CH) District. View Map
• To modify the conditions of the Planned Commercial Development (PCD) District for Jeff’s Family Friendly Restaurant at Hancock and East Castle streets to allow part of the lot to be used as a parking lot and to rezone the area indicated on the attached map from Residential Multi-Family Sixteen (RM-16). • To modify the conditions of the Planned Signage Overlay (PSO) District for the purpose of allowing modifications to the program book specific to the regulation of the signage allowed for the Office Loft development with two stories to allow tenants the opportunity to have a sign on both sides of the building. • To rezone the territory at New Salem Pike and St. Andrews Drive from Single-Family Residential Fifteen (RS-15) District to Planned Commercial Development (PCD) District.
