Neighbors jolted awake by suspected arson

Being jolted awake in the middle of the night due to a loud bang can be very unsettling. That incident occurred Saturday, March 26 on Kirkwood Avenue and many neighbors where stunned by the suspected arson that took place.

At approximately 10:30 on that evening, the Murfreesboro Police Department responded to a call at 902 Kirkwood Ave. about a fire. Many neighbors, after hearing the loud noise came outside to observe the flames that rose from the garage of the house.

The complaint came from a Gabriel Rheaume, of 906 Kirkwood Dr. He was awakened by the noise and came to find that his neighbor’s house had gone up in flames, but reports no suspicious activity.

David Craig, of 822 Kirkwood Ave., after hearing the commotion, looked outside to observe a dark colored truck leaving the scene of the crime.

Melinda Lee, of 903 Houston Dr., described a similar depiction of what Craig saw. Lee gave a few more details about the car, but the person who caused the fire is still unknown.
