|Two neighbors arguing escalated into a shooting that injured one man and resulted in charges against the second man Saturday in Walter Hill, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Victim Jeffrey A. Davis, 44, of Jeter Way suffered a gunshot wound during the fight, Deputy Edwin Fitzgerald reported.
Detective Jim Tramel said Davis suffered the gunshot wound to his left thigh. He was treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center and later released.
Tramel charged suspect James George McCreery, 44, of Jeter Way with attempted first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
“Davis was at his residence when he was approached by McCreery,” Tramel said.
Tramel said he could not disclose the nature of the argument at this time.
When Fitzgerald responded, he found Davis lying in a chair with friends and family treating his wound. Paramedics treated Davis before taking him to the medical center.
Deputy James Davis placed McCreery in a patrol car. Deputies collected a .380-caliber handgun and an empty shell casing at the scene.
McCreery was charged and booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where a hearing was set Aug. 13 in General Sessions Court. He was released on $52,500 bond.
