The Murfreesboro Branch will host the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Brunch on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the James Union Building on the campus of
MTSU.

The guest speaker will be Tennessee State Representative Brenda Gilmore.Tickets are $25 for adults ad $15 for students/youth. A group table for 8 may be purchased for $500.

The Intercultural & Diversity Affairs Department of MTSU is the campus sponsoring organization. The branch is soliciting ads and sponsorships for this event with all funds contributed to enable the NAACP to continue its activities on the local and national level. Please circle your selection.

The Murfreesboro NAACP is also accepting nominations for the Jerry Anderson Hero/Humanitarian Awards. For more information, contact Committee Co-Chair Mary Wade (615-895-7548).

Criteria for NAACP Jerry Anderson Hero/Humanitarian Award:

1. Any person that lives in Rutherford or surrounding counties without regard to race,
creed or color who has contributed outstanding leadership in the community or has
performed a heroic deed is eligible.

2. The individual selected shall have actively worked with various groups or
demonstrated exceptional courage and heroic behavior.

3. The award is not limited to members of the NAACP.
Procedures for Nominations

All nominations for the Jerry Anderson Hero/Humanitarian Award shall include the following:

1. Introduction and rational for recommendation

2. Biographical sketch of the nominee

3. Documentary evidence such as newspaper clippings or typed testimonials from
persons who know the individual (no less that 2 typed testimonials)

4. Documented tapes, films or recordings are welcomed

5. A photograph of the nominee

Group table for 8 is $500. $25 x 8 =$200 and a full page ad (BW) is $100 so what do you get for the other $200?
