Noted Western music producer, scholar and historian Fred Goodwin has donated a number of rare items from his extensive private collection for auction at Saddle Up, a fundraiser to benefit Project Help.
Saddle Up will be held from 6:30-11:30 p.m. Thursday at MTSU’s Floyd Stadium - Tower Club Level. Saddle Up tickets are $50 each.
Goodwin is a nationally recognized authority on country music and films, and owns one of the largest private music collections in existence, comprised of artists across all genres. In addition to music, Goodwin’s collection includes hundreds of historic photos and posters from Western movies, as well as photos of classic sports and movie icons.
During his career, Goodwin has represented and developed friendships with many pop culture figures and Western stars, most notably Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers. Parents of a daughter born with Down Syndrome, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans would be pleased to know items from their movies are being sold to benefit children with special needs.
Project Help is an early intervention program that offers services free of charge to families who have very young children with developmental delays or disabilities. To learn more about Project Help, call 615-898-2458, or visit http://www.mtsu.edu/projecthelp.
The auction will also include a 4-foot by 8-foot playhouse, custom-built and donated by Haynes Brothers Lumber Company. Numerous silent auction items are included; a list can be found on Project Help’s website and Facebook page.
