Give us a sales pitch in 25 words or less: Ken Robinson Photography is all about building relationships, based on reputation, integrity and honesty. We truly care about our customers and strive to provide a positive photographic experience with kindness and compassion.
What is your proudest business achievement? Serving Murfreesboro, Rutherford County and the Middle Tennessee area and continuing to build a strong and successful business. Photographing every customer as an equal, whether you are a celebrity such as Michael Payne (HGTV), Louise Mandrell, a politician, a businessperson, a bride, a musician or a child, is significant to my business.
I have also been instrumental as a sponsor in the development of Middle Tennessee’s ‘CEO CafĂ©’, with the Bank of Nashville, a consortium of executives from a broad range of business and industry.
What led you to Murfreesboro? I have been fortunate to call Murfreesboro home for 26 years. I was affiliated with MTSU as a professional photographer for 16 years. Prior to MTSU, I worked as an educational photographer in the Middle Tennessee area.
What is your educational background? Attended college in Brazil and earned a bachelor’s degree in art with emphases in photography and architecture from University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Where are you originally from? I was born in Michigan, yet grew up in Uruguay and Brazil, as the son of missionaries. My roots are in Middle Tennessee and my heart has always led me back to this area.
What do you do for fun? I love people, so I enjoy most activities that allow me to develop new friendships and networks. In addition to my love of the camera, my passions include shooting/hunting, duck, quail and pheasant, as well as clay target sports and fishing.
Tell us about your family. My wife, Teresa, is a professor and coordinator of the Textiles, Merchandising and Design program at MTSU. I have two wonderful daughters, Chloe and Claire. Chloe is a junior at MTSU, majoring in family studies and psychology, and planning a graduate degree in Christian counseling. Claire is a rising seventh-grader at Siegel Middle School, and is interested in drama and sports. My parents retired in Middle Tennessee, and my sister, Rebecca, now resides in Royal Oak, Mich.
Who was your mentor? My early mentors were educators at Toccoa Falls Academy in Georgia, including teacher Tom Jenkins and principal, Leon Gathany, who inspired me to excel and instilled in me the passion of living life to its fullest. Locally, Alan Loveless, Loveless Fine Photography, and Jim Fuller, Jim Fuller Consulting, and my colleagues in BNI are my daily mentors and inspiration for business.
What is the most important thing going on now at your operation? Currently, we are extremely focused on our unique brand of customer service. The key to our success is through the relationships that we build! Our customers are our No. 1 priority.
We are also excited about the upcoming installation of our photographic works at
Art is Here, a Nashville art gallery, this fall.
