MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Officer Ricky Haley from the Murfreesboro Police Department was recently honored with an Officer of the Year award from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office for his efforts to combat drunk driving.

Haley is a member of the Alcohol Countermeasures Team, which is charged with keeping the streets safe from drunk drivers.

Just in the past year, he has made several high-profile arrests, including one involving a habitual offender who was caught in January driving under the influence for the 10th time.

The Murfreesboro Police Department was also honored with the Seat Belt Enforcement Award for its efforts in the 2013 “Click-it or Ticket” campaign.

Officials said Haley, as well as the entire police force, should be commended for their hard work, and they hope to continue that success in the coming year.
