Murfreesboro Police officer decommissioned | MURFREESBORO POLICE

Wade Hatfield
One Murfreesboro motorcycle police officer was decommissioned Friday as part of an ongoing undisclosed investigation, the spokesman said. Officer Wade Hatfield was placed on administrative leave with pay, said spokesman Kyle Evans.

“Hatfield has been decommissioned due to an ongoing investigation,” Evans said, adding he couldn’t comment about the nature of the probe.
He previously worked as a police officer in La Vergne before joining Murfreesboro Police Department Nov. 29, 2004. He was promoted to the motor division in 2007.

Under the decommission order, Hatfield cannot carry a police firearm or badge, wear a police uniform, perform any law enforcement duties or work off-duty police jobs. He cannot be at the police department unless authorized by Chief Glenn Chrisman or Deputy Chief Randy Garrett.

He must cooperate with the investigation. Murfreesboro Police notified the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards Training Commission Hatfield was decommissioned.

Defamation?

Thanks, Mike, for deleting the comment. tnlonestar, just because you know him personally doesn't mean you get to ream him publically. And just because you know him doesn't mean you 'Didn't say anything that all Murfreesboro doesn't know.' I don't know the man and definitely don't know about his alleged actions and I've lived here almost 54 years. Nor do I need to know anything as the investigation is ongoing. I'm sure, despite what you and a handful of others may think, that we will be told in due time...if we need to know!

If he is decommissioned and can't function in any way as a police officer, can't even go to the police department, then why is he still being paid?

By: devolver on 3/31/09
momof3: good question... I'd say, perhaps, that it all depends on the exact circumstances of the investigation, which we currently aren't privy too, however in the private sector you would never be placed on "administrative leave with pay"...

Kickbacks is an unusual charge to be leveled at a patrolman. Accepting a bribe possibly, but usually a kickback is associated with the ability to influence the purchase of a service or item. Unless he had a lot of say so about the purchase of motorcycles, their equipment, parts or service, it is difficult to understand who would be making those "kickback" payments. The person paying the kickbacks may be in a bit of a bind also and could be singing like a Hartz Mountain canary.

Sgt. Killings, the dispatcher who can't read a compass, the policeman’s son who got away with drunk driving, and now this. The sad thing is this won't be the last thing this "I can do what I want" police mentality will do. Between both departments here in town there is a complete disconnect between “procedure and truth”. Replacement starts at the top with a chief who has lost control of his department. We don’t need a police department who has to spend their time policing themselves and not the public.

Come on Macgyver, altogether there are about 900 personnel who are involved in public safety, some are going to mess up. if guilty then hang em. Mr. Killing has not been found guilty of anything yet, the dispatcher screwed up who don't the policemen's son according to the DA after watching the car video was not drunk, there is more to some of these stories than just making claims that you know all.

Well you know what ASDSROOL I Take back my statement, But i tell you this! When anyone gets Arrested or Accused of a crime and its in the paper,News or whatever Shouldn't your comment apply to them also??? Remember they haven't been proven Guilty yet have they? But how many times have you or anyone else spoke up for them? Maybe it's because he's a Lawman huh? Maybe you are too or your one of his friends? I just think M.P.D. is on the right track to weeding out tax payer's wasted money on people like this! Or maybe there pulling a wool over our faces?

By: tnlonestar on 3/31/09
As far as you not wanting to know anything about him... Well why are you reading this in the first place??? Hmmm Strange huh?

By: perseveretolive on 4/1/09
I think they are on the right track, I can't believe there is one law enforcement officer or agency in this county that does not want to weed out this problem and wish to do the right thing, I just can't believe this is not the case. I know some of the officers on the street and in management and they are honest and hard working, when asked are they perfect no, but, they are not on the take or criminals, they care about the public and doing the right thing.
