Murfreesboro police investigating serious crash

Murfreesboro police are investigating a serious injury crash that left one person who was on a bicycle in critical condition Tuesday night after being hit by a car on North Rutherford Boulevard.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. near Bell Aire Baptist Church in the 1300 block of North Rutherford Boulevard, much of which remained closed for more than two hours while investigators gathered evidence and analyzed the crash scene.

Few details have been released regarding the crash due to the on-going investigation, but officials did confirm the incident involved a driver of a four-door vehicle and a bicyclist.

"The Fatal Accident Crash Team is investigating," said Sgt. Kyle Evans, public information officer for the Murfreesboro Police Department. "The person on the bicycle was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services."

Additional information regarding the wreck, as well as the identities of all involved, will likely not be released until Wednesday morning.

This is the first time that the FACT Team has been called to the scene of serious injury crash this year.
