A public review and comment period will be held for the proposed runway extension at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport, according to a recent announcement.
The public comment period is set for Monday, June 24, through Friday, July 26, during which interested citizens can review and comment on the draft environmental assessment regarding a proposal to extend the airport's runway 852 feet northward toward DeJarnette Lane.
In compliance with Federal Aviation Administration procedures the city of Murfreesboro’s consultants have prepared a draft environmental assessment and draft finding of no significant impact.
Written comments will be received by Hanson Professional Services, 53 Century Blvd., Suite 160, Nashville, Tenn., 37214 until 4 p.m. July 26 for transmission to the Federal Aviation Administration.
A public hearing will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in the Murfreesboro City Council Chambers in City Hall. This event will be a work session and public hearing with the draft environmental assessment and the included drawings on display.
Representatives from the consulting firms who assisted the city of Murfreesboro in the preparation of the environmental assessment, Atkins North America and Hanson Professional Services, will attend to answer any questions.
People attending the public hearing will have the opportunity to record their comments for inclusion in the environmental assessment and official consideration by the FAA reviewers.
Copies of each are available at Murfreesboro Municipal Airport, located at 1930 Memorial Blvd., as well as the Linebaugh Public Library and the offices of the Records and Planning and Engineering departments in City Hall.
