Murfreesboro City Schools set to honor board members

Murfreesboro City Schools, the Tennessee School Boards Association and communities across the state will recognize the work of boards of education this week during School Board Appreciation Week.

"The Murfreesboro City School Board supports public schools, enables the MCS district to be excellent, and advocates for children," said Lisa Trail, Murfreesboro City Schools spokeswoman. "School board members devote their time and efforts to ensure that our students receive a first-class education and an opportunity for future success in life."

School Board Appreciation Week is proclaimed by the governor and celebrated statewide to honor school board members who govern our schools. Public education is everyone’s business, and it holds the key to the success of every community.

Murfreesboro City Schools will honor its board members:
• Mary Wade, board chairwoman,
• Butch Campbell, vice chairman,
• Jared Barrett,
• Dr. Andy Brown,
• Nancy Phillips,
• Nancy Rainier,
• Collier Smith, and
• Ron Washington, city council liaison.
