A local man is charged with first-degree murder after the death of a toddler.

Kymari Clark, 16 months old, was pronounced dead Friday night at Vanderbilt
Children’s Hospital after he was LifeFlighted to the hospital with suspicious injuries.

At the time, the toddler’s caretaker, Rashii Brisbon, 32, of South Church Street, was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse.

Following the child’s death, Murfreesboro Police Detective Tommy Roberts obtained a first-degree murder charge against Brisbon, who is currently being held at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department. He is scheduled to appear in court July 8 and his bond is set at $300,000.

Last Thursday, the child was found unresponsive with bruising around the neck at Brisbon’s apartment.

Brisbon claimed the infant choked on a piece of bread and fell off the sofa. Physicians and a child protective services worker said such injuries could not have occurred that way.

In addition to homicide charges that are pending, authorities discovered that Brisbon also has an outstanding warrant for desertion from the U.S. Army.

A murderer and deserter. He should be identified as a county resident, but never as a man!

"such injuries could have occurred that way."

I read elsewhere differently, that they could NOT have occurred that way.
