There was some skepticism on how Middle Tennessee State University would fare in the new conference. It's apparent that competition is at a noticeably higher level than the Sun Belt. When MTSU barely fell short of beating Eastern Carolina, the pirates were just coming off of a 20-point victory over North Carolina, who has been a force in the ACC the past couple years. MTSU lost by one score. Marshall played ranked opponent Virginia Tech til the very end before barely falling short in the 4th quarter. As much as this says about the ability of ECU and Marshall, I think MTSU's talent level shines in looking at these stats. Not only do we belong in Conference USA, MTSU can be a contender for a championship in the next couple years.
As bright as the present seems, the future is even brighter for MTSU football and the university as a whole. With increased production from the football team, more fans will fill the seats. More fans filling the seats will provide more pride and funding for the university. If we continue to succeed and recruits take notice, we'll receive more talented recruits, resulting in an even better team and performance on the field. MTSU is on an incline.
