A Murfreesboro man accused of taking nude photos of his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter is facing multiple charges after being arrested by MTSU police Monday at Womack Lane Apartments on campus.
Twenty-two-year-old Robert Lee Hunt Jr., of Fairfax Drive, was booked Monday evening into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a Sheriff’s Office intake report.
On Sunday, Hunt’s girlfriend, who is an MTSU student, filed a complaint with campus police, saying she observed nude photos of her daughter on his cellphone, prompting authorities with the university to launch an investigation.
Campus police then worked with the Murfreesboro Police Department to arrest Hunt on the charges, according to an MTSU Office of Public Safety press release.
“Obviously, any parent wants something done quickly on this, and luckily, we were able to move fairly quickly on it," said Sgt. Broede Stucky, who serves as a spokesman for the Office of Public Safety, in an interview with News Channel 5.
When Hunt was questioned about the allegations, he allegedly admitted to taking the photos on March 20, while he was babysitting the child at his girlfriend’s on-campus apartment.
The Police Department has since filed additional charges in relation to the possession and distribution of child pornography.
Hunt, who is not an MTSU student, has also been issued a criminal trespass warning for all of campus – meaning he is no longer allowed on any university-owned property.
Campus police said Thursday they believe there is only one victim, and at this time, are not aware of any evidence of the girl being sexually assaulted.
However, anyone with additional information about this case should call the Office of Public Safety, which is the lead agency in charge of the ongoing investigation, at 615-898-2424.
As of Thursday night, Hunt remained in custody at the Adult Detention Center in Murfreesboro. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing May 22 in General Sessions Court. |
