On Thursday, Oct. 15, the Student Government Association will host the annual Fight Song Competition at 7 p.m. in the Murphy Center. The event is free and open to all students, alumni and community members.
Fight Song, MTSU’s longest standing tradition, is a song and dance competition, where various student organizations place the lyrics of the MTSU fight song to the tune of other popular songs. This year, five homecoming groups will compete for the trophy. Additionally, there will be a special performance by the MTSU Performing Arts Company and the MTSU Cheer Squad.
Last year’s competition saw a crowd of more than 1,500 people attend, and the homecoming group of Alpha Chi Omega, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Kappa Alpha Psi took home the first-place trophy.
For more information, go to the SGA Web site, www.mtsu.edu/~sga or contact Mallory Phillips, homecoming director, at 615-898-2537 or sgahome@mtsu.edu.
