Campus police have arrested the suspect wanted in connection with the Nov. 15 armed robbery that occurred outside of Scarlett Commons Apartments.
Christopher Hendrix, an 18-year-old freshman in the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences, turned himself into campus police Tuesday, according to an e-mail sent to students from the MTSU Office of Public Safety.
Hendrix has been charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, and carrying a weapon on school property, according to campus police.
Both the aggravated burglary and assault charges each carry a maximum penalty of 15 years, and violating state gun laws on a university campus carries a penalty of up to six years in prison.
Hendrix told campus police that the incident occurred after he and the victim got into a physical altercation after a disagreement regarding a drug transaction, according to officials with the Office of Public Safety.
As a result of the investigation and subsequent comments made about the relationship between the two students, campus police also reminded students to choose “smarter and healthier lifestyles to reduce the opportunities of becoming a victim.”
A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled. |
