MTMC sets fundraisers for March for Babies | MTMC, March for Babies

A nurse in Middle Tennessee Medical Center’s nursery, Metchay Souvannaraj, RN, monitors a newborn baby. MTMC delivers nearly 2,500 babies each year and is the 2010 local presenting sponsor of Rutherford County March for Babies on April 25.
As the 2010 local presenting sponsor for the March of Dimes March for Babies walk, Middle Tennessee Medical Center is fundraising in full-swing for the April 25 walk. Several events are planned including an upcoming book sale on March 25 and 26 and Princesses and Pirates for a Day on April 10, where parents can register their children to become transformed into princesses and pirates. The annual MTMC Golf for Babies golf scramble will be held on April 17 at Cedar Crest Golf Club in Murfreesboro.

“We’re excited about the events we have planned this year, and look forward to having fun and, hopefully, exceeding our fundraising goal,” said Janet McIntosh, RN, director of nursing for maternal-infant services at MTMC. “We’re proud to work at a hospital that is committed to improving the lives of babies. On a daily basis, the nurses in maternal-infant services see the benefit of research that March of Dimes provides, and we match their commitment to babies with the superior service we provide.”

MTMC is also the presenting sponsor for this year’s Baby and Family Expo at Stones River Mall on March 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The expo is free and will feature local children’s entertainers, hourly prize giveaways, games and activities, exhibitors with baby clothing, toys, safety equipment, children’s furniture, photographers and maternal-infant services at MTMC.

Maternal-Infant services at MTMC offers a complete continuum of care from maternal fetal medicine for high-risk moms to a well-equipped neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for fragile infants. With the only NICU in Rutherford County, MTMC cares for more than 300 babies each year who are born premature or require special medical attention. The NICU is a 13 bed unit, staffed with compassionate and experienced nurses, respiratory therapists, neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners.

Delivering nearly 2,500 babies each year, MTMC has the expertise and compassion to meet your family’s needs. Not only do mothers and families receive quality, safe care, they also receive several ‘bonuses’ including a free massage, a baby’s first ‘birth’day party and cake, professional photography and videographer, a personal lactation consultant and room service dining.
