The Middle Tennessee Medical Center Foundation announced this week the Philanthropist of the Year Award has been renamed in honor of Dr. Liz Rhea with unanimous approval from the board.
“To say that we are thankful for Liz is an understatement,” said Anne Davis, MTMC Foundation Director. “Liz has been a part of the MTMC family for many years, as a dedicated board member, tireless worker and philanthropic champion. Liz is the inaugural recipient of the 2011 award which now proudly bears her name.”
The foundation’s primary work is to promote community awareness of the quality and value of medical services provided by MTMC and to raise and manage philanthropic gifts to further the hospital’s healing ministry to care for the poor and vulnerable.
Rhea joined the MTMC Foundation board of directors in 1993, and since has served as treasurer and vice-president, as well as president of the MTMC Ambassadors.
Rhea gave one of the largest individual donations to the building of the new hospital and additionally, made a second gift to the MTMC Cancer Center capital campaign. |
