MTMC opens congestive heart failure clinic | MTMC, Health

Dr. Carlos Hubbard
Middle Tennessee Medical Center and Saint Thomas Heart are expanding cardiac services in Rutherford County with the opening of the Heart Failure Clinic at MTMC.

Carlos A. Hubbard, MD, PhD, an invasive cardiologist with Saint Thomas Heart at MTMC and Amy Sadler, nurse practitioner, will treat patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) in the new clinic located on the MTMC campus.

According to the Society of Chest Pain Centers, CHF is a progressive condition in which the heart muscle becomes damaged, gradually losing its ability to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. Heart failure is currently the only cardiovascular disease that continues to increase in both incidence and prevalence.

Nearly five million Americans live with this condition, and 700,000 are diagnosed each year.

At age 40, the lifetime risk of developing heart failure for both men and women is one in five. Often, patients ignore the symptoms of heart failure, mistaking them as unavoidable signs of aging.

Hubbard specializes in invasive and non-interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, vascular medicine, vascular ultrasound and heart failure management.

He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology and board eligible in echocardiography. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and in 2007, completed his fellowship in cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Heart Failure Clinic at MTMC is located at 503 East Bell Street, Suite 302. To schedule an appointment, call 615-396-5710.

Now if Rutherford County will have some jobs with insurance, maybe I can afford to go to this clinic. I have CHF and with no job/insurance you can't afford to go near this place. A single visit was about $300 at The CHF clinic @ St. Thomas. So I can't even go see my doctor now, at least the Health Clinic is helping as is the Dispensary of Hope.
