Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC) has granted the Primary Care & Hope Clinic $107,000 for the provision of care to the uninsured.

The Mission of Middle Tennessee Medical Center compels it to serve the poor and vulnerable, seek ways to improve the health of individuals and communities, and be an advocate for a just and compassionate society. Each year MTMC develops a Care of the Poor and Community Benefit Plan to fulfill this mission and identify potential initiatives and collaborative partners.

“The Primary Care & Hope Clinic plays a vital role in helping to create a more effective and compassionate health safety-net for the citizens of Rutherford County who are most vulnerable,” said Gordon B. Ferguson, president and CEO of MTMC. “MTMC is pleased that we have the opportunity to assist the Primary Care & Hope Clinic as they provide primary care to the uninsured and underinsured.”

MTMC has worked in collaboration with the Primary Care & Hope Clinic since 2003.

“The Primary Care & Hope Clinic is honored to have Middle Tennessee Medical Center support our mission to develop and manage primary healthcare for the most vulnerable in our community,” said Lisa Terry, CEO of Primary Care & Hope Clinic. “Too often, the uninsured fail to obtain preventive and primary care health services because they have no consistent point of health care access. This donation helps us provide efficient and high-quality health care for the underserved.”

Middle Tennessee Medical Center is a member of Saint Thomas Health Services, a faith-based ministry with more than 7,200 associates serving Middle Tennessee.

Saint Thomas Health Services consists of four hospitals: Baptist and Saint Thomas Hospitals in Nashville, Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro and Hickman Community Hospital in Centerville.

It is a member of Ascension Health, a Catholic organization that is the largest nonprofit health system in the United States.
