Middle Tennessee Medical Center is extending its commitment to the March of Dimes annual March for Babies event this year, by serving as the presenting sponsor.
The March of Dimes raises money to support programs in the community that help mothers have healthy, full-term pregnancies.
March of Dimes also provides funding in the community to raise awareness before and during pregnancy.
With the help of March of Dimes, life-saving treatments and therapies have been developed for lung maturity, brain development and vision defects.
“MTMC’s goal for this year is to raise $10,000, along with an additional $20,000 through the help of our president and CEO, Gordon Ferguson, who is serving as the 2010 Revenue Chair for March of Dimes,” said MTMC nursery and neonatal intensive care unit nurse manager, Rachel Deml, RN.
“We also hope to win the Most Walkers Award and the Spirit Award again this year,” Demi said.
The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at MTMC cared for more than 300 premature or complicated babies last year.
NICU nurses along with all Maternal Infant Services nurses and MTMC associates raised more than $10,000 in 2009 for March for Babies.
“Babies are our business and we hope to one day see them all born healthy,” said Deml. |
