The nationwide commemoration is a way to celebrate life and demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful and productive.

Two-time breast cancer survivor, Wordna Black, knows the importance of celebrating life. "Life is good even after the ugly word ‘cancer’,” she said. “Survival is especially good after hearing the word a second time.”

Today, Black uses her experience to give hope to others facing a similar situation. She has been selected as the 2011 Honoree for Middle Tennessee Medical Center’s Power of Pink event, set for Sept. 23. The Power of Pink is Rutherford County’s premiere fundraising event for breast cancer.

“I’m a cancer survivor due to two excellent surgeons, a caring family, love, friends and my faith in God,” said Black. “I am proud to be chosen as the Power of Pink Honoree by a dedicated group of women in our community who work unselfishly for early detection and survival from cancer.”
