MTMC volunteer Gene Williams drives the courtesy shuttle, providing parking lot transportation to visitors and patients.
Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC) announces the launch of its courtesy shuttle service, bringing patients and visitors from the parking lot to the hospital’s main entrance. MTMC’s volunteer department staffs the shuttle carts Monday through Friday as a free service.

“Visitors really appreciate the courtesy service,” said Gene Williams, an MTMC volunteer shuttle driver. “Especially in hot or rainy weather, it’s a big help to people.”

Williams said the reaction to the service has been extremely positive. Bobby Rutledge, an Eagleville resident, recently rode the shuttle from his vehicle when visiting a patient at MTMC.

“It’s really nice not to have to walk so far,” Rutledge said.

The service, which was implemented in 2007 at the hospital’s original location on North Highland, is one of the many ongoing initiatives that MTMC provides for patient satisfaction. Individuals interested in becoming a volunteer shuttle driver, should contact the hospital volunteer department at (615)396-4176.
