MTCS, La Vergne, Blackman advance to finals in boys regional

MTCS continued their late season surge beating White House Heritage 64-57 and play in the regional basketball final Thursday and in the sectional on Monday.

The Cougars trailed into the fourth quarter but won the quarter by points and won the game.

Scoring leaders: Derrick Spears a game high 25 points, Micah Farmer, 17, Ben Brown, 11.

La Vergne won a close one 68-66 over 8AAA Champion Tullahoma and the Wolverines

also advance to Thursday night's region finals and Monday's Sectional.

La Vergne shot 42 percent and had only six turnovers.

Scoring leaders: Caymon Dial with 29 points, Doloren Sparks, 13 and Alfred Mason, 12.

Blackman beat Siegel for the third time this year 48-43 and the Blaze advance to Thurday's region finals and also Monday's Sectional.

Siegel closes at 19-12.

Scoring leaders: For Blackman, Darius Thompson and Andrew Rogan had 11 points each and

Alec McMiller had 9.

For Siegel, Charles Clark had a game high 21.
