The Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors held its 6thannual MTAR Charity Golf Scramble Thursday, raising money for “Partners for Healing” and the MTAR Scholarship Fund.

Mike Jarrell’s team of David Burris, Jarrell, Johnny McCormick, & Dirk Milliron won the Championship Flight with a score of 55; top prize in the Second Flight went to Don Lester’s team of Mr. Lester, Tom Rosebrough, Josh Smith, and Doug Timmons.

“We’re really glad that this tournament continues to grow every year” noted MTAR Board Member and Tournament Chairman Mark Messick of Weichert Realtors Joe Orr & Associates in Tullahoma. “Over the last six years, people have started to talk about what we’re doing here with this tournament, both in how we’re helping local causes and in the way that we’re putting on a fun, quality event. People take home prizes, they get some great food, and have a fun time throughout. I’m proud of what this tournament has become, and I’m excited about how it’ll continue to only get better.”

Partners for Healing, one of the causes which the MTAR Tournament benefits, is an organization which provides medical services to financially-disadvantaged residents of Coffee, Franklin and Moore counties.

Applicants to the programs must meet certain income guidelines, and at least one member of the household must be employed, yet not eligible for TennCare or other medical insurance. For more information, visit www.partnersforhealing.org.

The MTAR Scholarship, the other cause benefited by this tournament, is awarded annually to one or more students from within the MTAR membership area who are planning to begin college the semester after their high school graduation, and will be attending one of several local colleges or universities.

To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must be an upcoming graduate from a public or private high school in Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Moore or Rutherford counties, and planning to enroll the following fall at Motlow, MTSU or a Tennessee Technology Center campus.

“We’re just so proud to be able to help these wonderful charities” beamed 2011 MTAR President Janet Nettles of Coffee County Realty in Manchester. “Of course, we wouldn’t be able to do it without our wonderful sponsors. They’re the ones who make it all possible”. This year’s major sponsors included F&M Mortgage, who sponsored the overall event; Stan McNabb Automotive, who sponsored the 4 Hole-in-one Contests; First Community Mortgage and ServPro, who sponsored the Beverage Carts; American City Bank and Nationstar Mortgage, who sponsored a lunch from Boskey’s Grille; Dr. Bill George & Dr. William Daniel, who sponsored the prizes; Shelter Insurance, who sponsored the trophies; Coffee County Bank, who sponspored the Putting Contest; and Access Title, Home Inspection Center, J&W Repair, and Weichert Realtors® Joe Orr & Associates who sponsored Skill Shot contests.
