Murfreesboro Police released photographs from surveillance cameras earlier this week in hopes of identifying the suspects connected to vandalism at Hobgood Elementary School. (Photos submitted.)
Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department released footage Thursday of suspects who they believe vandalized Hobgood Elementary School earlier this month.

Security cameras captured two adults and four minors roaming the hallways and entering multiple classrooms in the school located on Mercury Boulevard.

A maintenance worker with Murfreesboro City Schools discovered the vandalism July 11, and detectives believe the incident occurred some time between Friday and Sunday, July 8-July 10.

Several classrooms were ransacked, and a kindergarten teacher’s personal property was also damaged. The vandals also tagged “MS-13” and other gang-related words inside several rooms, as well as egged all of the glass doors on the south side of the building, according to the incident report.

MS-13 is a gang that operates in more than 40 states and has roughly 10,000 members nationwide, most of whom are first generation Salvadoran-Americans, but they may also be from Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.

During the past few years, the number of members has significantly increased in the Southeast and Northeast, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 893-7867 (STOP) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
